The seventh iteration of Australia’s premier boutique aesthetic medicine education event, COSMEDICON 2024, is shaping up to be the best yet!

The event runs over four days from Thursday, 7 through to Sunday, 10 March.

Driven by delegate feedback, the program has been tweaked to maximise the education benefits for attendees. Thursday is now Workshop Day, with the Scientific Program and Trade Exhibition running concurrently on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday featuring case studies, live injecting demonstrations and business advice.

The conference will again be held at Sydney’s Intercontinental Hotel, Double Bay. Delegates can expect to learn about the latest innovations in aesthetic treatments, as well as tips and tricks from experienced key opinion leaders.

Workshops

Thursday hosts two full-day, cutting edge, Industry supported, concurrent workshops that will cover injectable treatments of many types. Industry newcomers are catered for with the Facial Injectable Training (FIT) and non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques for beginners also running on this day.

Breakfast workshops are featured on Thursday, Friday
and Saturday from 7:00am and will give the delegates a first-hand opportunity to learn about the latest technologies, devices and skincare available.

Scientific program

The COSMEDICON 2024 two-day scientific program has been curated to ensure the inclusion
of an impressive cross-section of international and local key- opinion-leaders, providing thought-provoking, skill-enhancing presentations and discussions over a range of acutely relevant subjects. These include the latest techniques and technologies in minimally invasive aesthetic practice, covering facial rejuvenation/injectables, body sculpting, skincare and EBs, as well as a regulations review.

The COSMEDICON mission is always that delegates will return home with plenty of new ideas and practical skills that can be implemented immediately.

Social functions

Every year COSMEDICON provides a stellar social program of lavish and fun events – in 2024 this will commence with the Cryomed Aesthetics Welcome Drinks in The Bar on Thursday night from 7:00pm.

High Tech Medical’s ‘Rocky Horror’ Gala Dinner in The Ballroom at the InterContinental, Double Bay commences at 7:00pm and is sure to make the crowd ‘jump to the left…’ with a character-driven show in addition to world-renowned DJ Stephen Ferris (he has provided soundtracks for the City of Sydney 2000 New Years Eve celebration, VIVID and Mardi Gras, amongst others) and includes a prize for the best costume. Be ready to let your hair down!

On completion of the scientific program on Saturday, delegates and exhibitors will adjourn to The Courtyard for the Xytide Networking Event. This is the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends old and new, and to discuss learnings and insights from the event.

Dr Kim Booysen (UK)

Dr Kim Booysen is a globally experienced, medical doctor with over 20 years’ clinical experience. She has worked in several world-renowned hospitals in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, gaining experience in specialities such as dermatology and emergency medicine. Dr Booysen has settled in the UK and runs her own busy aesthetic practice in South East London.

Dr Booysen has a thirst for knowledge and holds degrees in medicine, law, business management, health management and aesthetics. Her current field of interest is ultrasound in aesthetics and she has been incorporating this modality into her clinic for several years. Dr Booysen has also held a training role with Merz UK for many years, and now also trains across Europe and APAC.

In her spare time, she travels with her husband and young son, when she is not working on renovating their old Edwardian home.

Dr Glen Calderhead (South Korea)

Based in South Korea as Vice-President, Medicoscientific Affairs of the Lutronic Corporation, Dr Calderhead travels worldwide lecturing on all aspects of phototherapy and photosurgery. He is a prolific lecturer at national and international congresses, having given over 300 keynote and special invited lectures over the past 30 years.

A pioneer of laser surgery both in Japan and world- wide, Dr Calderhead is a leading expert in low level light therapy (LLLT). He became interested in LEDs as a valid phototherapeutic light source following the development of the “NASA LED”, which offers laser-like target selectivity.

He has published a number of scientific papers and is the co-author of and contributor to several books on laser therapy, laser surgery and simulation surgery.

Dr James Chelnis (USA)

Dr Chelnis is board certified in oculofacial plastic surgery and ophthalmology, having completed his ASOPRS (American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons) fellowship at Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee.

He is an internationally recognised speaker and teacher in aesthetics and plastic surgery, including at NYU, Mount Sinai, NY Eye and Ear, as well as Vanderbilt University. He has presented at conferences as far afield as Sydney and Osaka.

Dr Shang-Li Lin (Taiwan)

Dr Shang-Li Lin is a board-certified dermatologist and one of the most renowned speakers in the field of aesthetic medicine in Taiwan.

He founded Shangli Dermatologic & Aesthetic Clinic in Taipei 12 years ago and has been giving lectures and training sessions in numerous global conferences and workshops for many years.

He has won the best case in non-surgical facial rejuvenation in 2015 at AMEC for his insightful treatment plans and unique injection techniques, and because of his passion and tremendous experience in the fields of injectables, laser and energy-based devices, he is one of the mostly requested and invited speakers worldwide.

Dr Michael Mirmanesh (USA)

Dr Michael Mirmanesh is an award-winning, fellowship- trained plastic surgeon, renowned for his ability to incorporate surgical and non-surgical methods to achieve natural-looking, long-lasting results.

Dr Mirmanesh is committed to staying at the cutting- edge of aesthetic medicine and surgery. He has authored over a dozen plastic surgery publications and multiple book chapters. He is an internationally invited speaker, recently giving talks in Boston, San Diego, Miami, Los Angeles, Montreal, Orlando, Dallas and San Francisco.

Dr Mirmanesh founded and serves as medical director of The Garden Medical Spa, a multi-location medical spa in the Eastern United States.

Dr Beatriz Molina

Dr Beatriz Molina is the founder and medical director of Medikas Ltd and a fellow of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine.

Originally from Spain, Dr Molina moved to England on a surgical rotation during her medical training and worked at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. She then went on to become a GP for 10 years during which time she developed an interest in cosmetic surgery.

She undertook extensive training in many treatments and procedures in the aesthetics spectrum and in 2005 set up her first clinic in Somerset offering high quality, medically-backed aesthetic procedures.
