The Cosmetic Nurses Association (CNA) is a professional not-for-profit membership-based group serving as a collective voice for all nurses who provide non-surgical cosmetic services within the cosmetic industry in Australia.

The CNA was founded in 2020 by a small group of concerned cosmetic nurses and nurse advocates who quickly realised that there was no one truly advocating for them in the height of the pandemic lockdowns.

Historically, nurses who perform non- surgical cosmetic treatments have not been recognised as a specialist group. The CNA mandate is to change this.

The CNA now represents the largest group of cosmetic nurses in Australia. The not-for-profit organisation not only helps to protect patient safety by lifting industry standards but also strives to provide nurses with a safe working environment and a clear training and education pathway to advance their skills and expertise.

Protecting the future of cosmetic nurses

CNA is investing in the future of all cosmetic nurses working in cosmetic medicine. It encourages and supports networking, mentorship, support and development by collaborating across all groups within the industry and liaising with authorities such as the TGA, AHPRA and the NMBA.

‘The CNA strives to be the custodian and voice for all nurses working in the area of cosmetic nursing, representing them as professionals collaborating with stakeholders to achieve objectives and standards that prioritise safe outcomes for patients and a safe and rewarding working environment for nurses,’ says CNA President, Sheri-Lee Knoop, RN.

The CNA operates under a Constitution with an Advisory Committee that sets out the standards and educational expectations of someone who wants to call themselves a cosmetic nurse.

The Advisory Board of the CNA is a group of passionate nurses working within the cosmetic medical industry. The volunteers work tirelessly to represent their peers at every opportunity, to ensure all nurses are mentored, supported and advocated for within the industry.
