Whether for skin rejuvenation, pigment and melasma or tattoo removal, PICOPLUS by Lutronic delivers a powerful and versatile laser treatment.

With pico and nanosecond dual-pulse mode, four wavelengths, precisely controlled fluence options, high energy output and six handpieces, PICOPLUS by Lutronic offers advanced treatments and mastery over difficult pigmentation and recalcitrant tattoos.

PICOPLUS is a second-generation pico and nanosecond laser that generates one of the highest peak powers (1.8GW) in its class. The ability to shorten the pulse width means a corresponding increase in the peak power for the same energy output. This enables precise targeting of pigments with less heat spreading to the surrounding tissue and more of a photomechanical effect, significantly decreasing the risk of photothermal damage and other side effects. Due to the ultra-short pulse duration and high power, it breaks down pigmentation into much smaller fragments than previous technologies. These pigment fragments are cleared faster with fewer number of treatment sessions.

‘I’ve been using the PICOPLUS in my practice for over a year now,’ says Sydney cosmetic physician Dr Michael Tse. ‘It was critical for us to invest in a picosecond laser. After some extensive research, we decided upon the PICOPLUS. The versatility of the four wavelengths, the clinical studies backing it, and the praise from some of my international colleagues encouraged me to make that decision. I have been very happy with our selection ever since.’

THE POWER OF FOUR WAVELENGTHS

PICOPLUS works with four versatile wavelengths: 1064, 532, 595 and 660nm. Many picosecond lasers offer 1064nm as the main wavelength, from which 532nm (visible green) is derived. PICOPLUS offers another two wavelengths – 595nm (visible yellow) and 660nm (visible red) – raising the total to four.

These additional wavelengths allow for the treatment of tattoo pigments which are recalcitrant to the 1064nm wavelength. The 595nm wavelength is also excellent for vascular-related conditions like flushing, rosacea and post-acne redness. The 660nm wavelength offers a safer and more gentle treatment of discrete epidermal lesions, such as freckles, than the usual 532nm wavelength with less damage, less downtime and better clearance.

‘The compatibility of the four wavelengths was immensely important to me when selecting a picosecond laser,’ says Dr Tse. ‘Having a device that can treat numerous indications is essential. One wavelength simply can’t achieve the desired results, and there is no such thing as one size fits all when it comes to treating the skin efficiently and effectively.’

THE POWER OF SIX HANDPIECES

PICOPLUS is equipped with six handpieces, including two fractional: Zoom handpiece (1064 and 532nm) for improved clearance of coloured tattoos; Pico Toning Collimated handpiece (1064 and 532nm) for skin rejuvenation and melasma treatment; Gold Toning handpiece (595nm) for the treatment of redness and post-acne erythema; RuVY Touch handpiece (660nm) for gentle pigment reduction with a decreased risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation; and Focused Dots handpiece (1064nm) for focused energy treatments for scarring, rejuvenation and wrinkles. The Dual Focused Dots handpiece (1064nm and 532nm) is an optional extra.

‘In particular, the Dual Focused Dots is a wonderful component to the safety profile of PICOPLUS,’ says Dr Tse. This handpiece delivers high fluence microbeams in a fractionated pattern with adjustable scan size (4mm- 10mm) and adjustable microbeam focus depth. It causes a strong photomechanical disruption for Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) in the dermis and around the dermal-epidermal junction, while leaving the epidermis intact.

‘Being able to treat more delicate and sensitive areas is obviously a significant advantage,’ he adds. ‘This handpiece has been vital in keeping the tissue more protected, which helps refine and tailor treatment for better patient outcomes.’

THE POWER OF RESULTS

‘Melasma, pigmentation, tattoo removal, sun damage, redness, acne, lines and wrinkles – the list is endless for what PICOPLUS can treat and the results have been flawless, in my experience,’ says Dr Tse. ‘Again, without the four wavelengths this wouldn’t be achievable and the device would only be one dimensional. My patients are happy, I am happy. PICOPLUS results are predictable and that is translating into patients referring their friends and family. It is definitely our workhorse device.

It’s a real win-win.’

THE POWER OF INTELLIGENT DESIGN

Designed for the busy user, the self-calibrating system is intuitive, innovative and dependable.

It instantly switches between wavelengths and pulse durations without the need for recalibration. It also provides high power for the most difficult cases, and the ultra-short picosecond pulses provide effective treatment while minimising discomfort and erythema.

‘PICOPLUS is very user friendly,’ Dr Tse agrees. ‘Being able to make adjustments and amendments during treatment is essential. Having a shorter treatment time and creating less trauma to the surrounding tissue is also vital when decreasing downtime and unnecessary adverse effects. We want to target and clear pigment fast and with certainty.

‘I would recommend PICOPLUS and the Lutronic brand to any of my colleagues,’ he continues. ‘Advanced Cosmeceuticals, the distributors, have provided me with outstanding training and sensational ongoing support. I have been able to partner with them and align my business around their key messages. The scientific evidence has been strongly defined and their technical support has been flawless.

‘The results of PICOPLUS treatment are definitely abundant.

I am always certain of what results I can expect and therefore my patients are reassured and satisfied. Patient expectations and satisfaction is my driver. Without that, there is no success.’ AMP
