Dale Needham

Dermalux MD is the only LED device to be medically certified for the treatment of psoriasis. Can you explain how this technology can improve psoriasis?

The Dermalux MD range of LEDs (Dermalux Tri-Wave MD and Dermalux Flex MD) has been uniquely designed focussing on a narrow bandwidth emission (FWHM) and an increased peak height. What this means in comparison to other LEDs is that Dermalux MD LEDs produce a narrower emission with a higher peak energy. The core benefit is more focussed optical power, matched to that of the absorption point of the cell. Other LEDs with a wider emission produce unusable light by the cells, therefore the emitted energy converts to heat as a by-product of the treatment. Heat generated can create a placebo effect when it comes to treatment results; it may appear and feel as though the treatment has had an effect, however these effects are short-lived with no noticeable change to the underlying skin health. Due to the accuracy of the emission, Dermalux has been able to prove using its MD LED technology that it can treat and reduce the effects of psoriasis, driven by one core benefit of reduced heat due to the emission precision and ultimately resulting in the reduction of thermal effects leading to inflammation.

What are the benefits of the cooling technologies of Dermalux?

The Tri-Wave MD has two cooling systems. Firstly, an active cooling system monitors and stabilises the LEDs when in operation. LEDs traditionally get hot when powered. Dependant on the physical characteristics of the device, they can run exceptionally hot and, in turn, deliver less optical power. Most LED devices on the market suffer from poor thermal design. This means that the optical power emitted at the start of the treatment is drastically different to the optical power emitted at the end of the treatment, resulting in irregular optical power delivered over the course of the treatment. The Tri- Wave MD has a self-monitoring system, supported by an algorithm, designed into the product. This results in consistent optical power emitted over the duration of the treatment.

Secondly, during our research studies, we identified that keeping the target area cooler during treatment resulted in a higher optical absorption, therefore better long- term results and an enhanced result immediately after the treatment.

This resulted in the integration of patient cooling fans, discreetly placed into the LED treatment head of the device, with a sole purpose of introducing cool areas across the treatment area surface – the same principle as a breeze on a hot summer’s day. AMP

Testimonials

‘The Dermalux LED system is an excellent standalone treatment and an invaluable addition to all the skincare programs I offer in my clinic. It is probably the best investment in technology I have ever made.’
– Dr Simon Ravichandran, Clinetix

‘I have worked with many different LED devices and I believe Dermalux is superior to every one. Because of its ability to accelerate healing, I apply Dermalux after every treatment that induces an inflammatory response, including laser, mesotherapy, injectables and chemical peelings. Dermalux’s unique ability to combine three key wavelengths simultaneously targets multiple chromophores and enables us to maximise clinical results and treatment times and reduce downtime.’
– Dr Pablo Naranjo

9 reasons to choose Dermalux Tri-Wave MD

  1. Advanced Tri-Wave technology
Dermalux’s unique Tri-Wave technology enables individual, concurrent and sequential wavelength treatments designed to promote maximum cell activation for effective and long-lasting results. No other LED device in the market delivers unique targeted combinations of Blue 415nm, Red 633nm and Near Infrared 830nm wavelengths to promote skin health and rejuvenation, accelerate healing and resolving problem skin conditions for both the face and body.
  2. Medical CE Certification
Dermalux MD is clinically proven and certified in the treatment of a wide range of medical and cosmetic skin conditions. It is the only LED system in the world to hold medical approval for psoriasis. It is also medically CE certified for acne, wound healing and musculoskeletal pain relief. The Dermalux MD range is also effective in treating pigmentation, sensitive skin conditions and skin rejuvenation. ARTG listed.
  3. Precise, proven wavelengths
The Dermalux single wavelength LED has a peak emission tolerance of +/-2nm. This ensures targeted energy is only delivered at the intended wavelength for optimum absorption of light. Many competitor LED devices have a peak emission tolerance ranging up to +/-50nm which means much of the light energy is wasted.
  4. Bespoke high-power single wavelengths with variable optical power
Dermalux MD uniquely enables Blue 415nm, Red 633nm and Near Infrared 830nm wavelengths to be delivered as either single or multi-wavelength treatments. This capability extends the range of treatment options available and ensures superior results with reduced treatment time. It is configured to deliver more photons to the treatment area than any other LED device.
  5. Smart cooling system
High intensity photobiomodulation generates high optical energy. A unique thermal management system via forced air cooling regulates the LED temperature to enable a more intensive energy treatment whilst maintaining the optimum operational parameters. Integrated superficial skin cooling during treatment helps ensure a comfortable and amplified treatment.
  6. Bespoke Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
The Tri-Wave MD offers the gold standard in PDT due to its large treatment application for the face, head and body, custom energy delivery via joules or time, and specific PDT mono and polychromatic wavelength protocols. Medical-licensed indications include actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
  7. Ease of use
Dermalux MD devices have an intuitive touch screen operation with a wide range of preset and custom protocols. The articulated LED panel design means that the Tri-Wave MD can be used flat or curved, making it easy to use anywhere on the face and body.
  8. Multi-Award winning
Aesthetic Technology Ltd, manufacturers of Dermalux LED systems, were voted Best UK Manufacturer 2021 and 2018. Dermalux was voted Treatment of The Year for five consecutive years at the UK Aesthetic Awards.
  9. Outstanding profitability
With no consumables or maintenance and minimal operating costs, Dermalux is
a simple-to-use, results-driven treatment with an excellent safety protocol and high ROI. With Dermalux, you can also target multiple indications at the same time, which means faster results for your clients and more time for treatments in your clinic, delivering a faster return on your investment and repeat clients.
