Two skincare advances from Inskin Cosmedics that complement each other to deliver genetically tailored anti-ageing solutions.

SkinDNA™ from INSKIN COMEDICS is the perfect merging of science, technology and craft to deliver a totally unique experience and treatment plan for your skincare patients. With a few simple swabs inside the cheek, SkinDNA™ examines 16 genetic markers in five categories associated with skin ageing, literally taking ‘all the guess work’ out of your analysis and treatment. The laboratory test reports back to you on skin firmness and elasticity; wrinkling; sun damage; pigmentation; free radical damage; sensitivity and inflammation. Everything you need to know to assess and treat with confidence.

SkinDNA™ results can then be paired with the appropriate O Cosmedics skincare products and INSKIN Cosmedics Skintrition skin supplements to achieve a personally tailored treatment solution with scientific considerations given to ingredients and treatment modalities. O Cosmedics corrects the passage of time and lays a foundation for timeless beauty. The O range has been taken through its paces to make sure it stacks up to what you’d expect from a high performing product. O represents precision, scientific skincare hence the perfect Cosmedics partner for the SkinDNA™ test.

The SkinDNA™ Test

MARKER – Collagen Production

In healthy youthful skin, damaged or redundant collagen is washed out by a protein called matrix metalloproteinase – 1 (MMP-1) or collagenase. Collagen loss is replaced with the creation of new (and healthy) collagen. As we age MMP-1 production increases, which leads to a decline in skin health and durability. The SkinDNATM Genetic test helps identify if the patient is a carrier of key genetic variations associated with accelerated collagen loss or heightened MMP-1 production.

MARKER – Glycation

Glycation in the skin is caused, in part, by serum glucose levels which are influenced heavily by our genetic predisposition. Having variations in a specific gene can alter the body’s ability to maintain normal glucose levels and interfere with energy metabolism, both of which lead to glycation.

MARKER – Sun Damage

Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun accounts for 90% of the symptoms of early skin aging, skin damage and skin cancer. Genetic predispositions play an important role in the level of skin resistance to UV damage. The SkinDNATM Test can reveal if the patient’s skin has a greater or lesser natural genetic solar protection factor (gSPFTM).

MARKER – Free Radicals

Free radicals are highly reactive short-lived molecules that can damage virtually any molecule in the body including the important cellular structures found in the body’s largest organ, the skin. A number of skin related genetic variations have been found to alter the production of antioxidant protecting molecules.

MARKER – Sensitivity

A whole realm of the skin’s redness and sensitivity issues are initiated by your body’s first defense mechanism, inflammation.
