Etherea offers a unique combined solution of five different laser and light-based technologies in a single platform.
Etherea was developed with one thing in mind: to offer practitioners best-in-class laser and light-based applications in a versatile, expandable platform. What’s more, it aims to have the highest return on investment in the market and allows for future upgrades for new light sources and continuous incorporation of new technologies.
Featuring five different technologies, Etherea seeks to meet the specific needs of doctors and patients, offering a wide variety in treatment indications – from photorejuvenation, fractional resurfacing and skin tightening to tattoo removal, hair removal, and treatment of vascular lesions.
Etherea is manufactured by Industra Technologies, now celebrating its 25th year as a technology pioneer in medical aesthetics, and distributed in Australia by Cryomed.
The single platform is currently equipped with five laser and light hand pieces, including the IPL-Sq: the latest generation of intense pulsed light technology; the Acroma 1064 Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser; the 1064 long pulsed Nd:YAG laser; the 1540 GoSmooth fractional Er:Glass laser; and the 2940 DualMode fractional Er:YAG laser.
“One of the major advantages that the Etherea system has over many of its competitors is its expandability of technologies, made possible by simply changing the various hand pieces that come equipped with the device,” says vascular surgeon Luiz Marcelo Viarengo, MD, PhD, from Brazil, who has been using Etherea for the treatment of vascular lesions. “For the treatment of vascular lesions in particular, the 1064nm LongPulse handpiece appears to have mastered the perfect combination and relationship between optimal wavelength, energy density and pulse width, ensuring the best results for improved patient satisfaction.”
For Nuno Osorio, MD, a dermatologist in Brazil, the 2940 DualMode fractional Er:YAG laser is one of Etherea’s stellar features. “The DualMode technology for fractional Er:YAG laser skin resurfacing is extremely reliable and provides fully controlled ablation and coagulation levels in tissues, allowing me to use it in non-facial areas including the neck, chest and arms,” he says. “This allows much more versatility to patients and practitioners.”
According to Rio de Janeiro-based dermatologist Alexandre Filippo, MD, Etherea’s 2940 DualMode hand piece represents a new generation of Er:YAG technology. It combines hot and cold erbium, producing double pulses that can achieve both fractional ablative and coagulative effects simultaneously, increasing residual thermal damage in the targeted tissues while directly stimulating fibroblasts and subsequent neocollagenesis.
“The Etherea is proving to be ideal in the treatment and improvement of fine wrinkles, dyspigmentation, skin texture, acne and post-surgical scars, keratoses and verrucae, as well as the renewal of ageing and photodamaged skin,” he says.
“The results achieved using the DualMode laser handpiece are truly remarkable. Compared to CO2 laser technology, the 2940 DualMode allows me to perform safer fractional skin resurfacing treatments with less pain, fewer complications and side effects, while keeping downtime to a minimum,” he continues. “It offers practitioners the perfect synergy between fluence, pulse width and frequency.”
In addition to laser, the Etherea is equipped with the IPL-Sq hand piece using square-wave pulse technology. “Unlike traditional IPL systems, this technology releases energy through a controlled and microprocessed discharge to deliver uniform energy all along the pulse,” says Brazilian dermatologist Valeria Campos, MD. “This ideal configuration helps to ensure higher safety and efficacy of clinical procedures, as well as improved aesthetic outcomes.”
“Etherea is a very innovative, expandable aesthetic treatment platform boasting state-of-the-art technologies that can be used for a plethora of cosmetic indications. I am convinced that these technologies will not only satisfy but also fascinate aesthetic physicians, as well as the most demanding aesthetic patients,” Dr Campos concludes. AMP
