Introducing Complex A+ Serum by ZO® Skin Health, a maximum-concentration retinol to assist in improving the appearance of severe signs of skin ageing, including wrinkles, skin sagging and laxity.

The new Complex A+ Serum by ZO® Skin Health is a super-charged, high- potency microencapsulated retinol for severe signs of skin ageing. Offering an alternative to tretinoin, it helps to improve skin texture, wrinkles, sagging and laxity, as well as improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin.

ZO® Skin Health’s microemulsion technology is a key differentiating factor, creating a unique delivery system that rapidly releases active ingredients to the skin’s deeper layers for profound anti- ageing results.

Complex A+ is further enhanced with bakuchiol to amplify the benefits of retinol, while vitamins A, C and E help to minimise future damage from oxidative stress. Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate help to promote skin hydration and improve the skin barrier.

Complex A+ is specifically formulated to induce anticipated reactions such as redness, flaking, peeling and tightness to deliver superior results. As such, it is important to acclimatise to this product to help minimise redness and irritation. Good candidates include patients who have been using retinol and would like to increase their protocol intensity, and patients who need stronger pre- conditioning before advanced in-office procedures.

ZO® Skin Health leads the way in Vitamin A, delivering an effective, broad range of retinol solutions. This is just one part of its comprehensive portfolio of products and protocols. ZO® Skin Health was created to provide practitioners and patients with the world’s most innovative and effective skin health solutions for a range of skin types and concerns.

Guided by Dr Zein Obagi, a world-renowned dermatologist and skin expert, the company’s product development team utilises the best of what science has to offer to improve the skin’s natural functions that prevent or resolve many skin disorders.

ZO® Skin Health products are designed to be used as part of a practitioner-led skin health regimen and are only sold through authorised clinics.

‘ZO® SKIN HEALTH’S MICROEMULSION TECHNOLOGY IS A KEY DIFFERENTIATING FACTOR, CREATING A UNIQUE DELIVERY SYSTEM THAT RAPIDLY RELEASES ACTIVE INGREDIENTS TO THE SKIN’S DEEPER LAYERS.’

CLINICAL RESULTS

Complex A+ is proven to significantly improve multiple manifestations of ageing by 12 weeks in 100% of subjects.

A 12-week independent, third- party clinical study* of 27 female subjects, ages 42 to 65 years old, with Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI assessed the efficacy potential of Complex A+ in improving manifestations of ageing. Complex A+ was supported with the use of ZO® Skin Health Hydrating Cleanser and Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen during the study.

To test product efficacy and intensity of reactions, the study was intentionally designed to be aggressive. It featured AM and PM Complex A+ use on subjects who had not used retinol prior.

Observations included:
Week 2 –100% of subjects reported improvement in skin tone and an overall healthier appearance
Week 4 – Statistically significant improvement in skin radiance
Week 8 – Statistically significant reduction of crow’s feet
Week 12 –100% of subjects showed an average:
• 41% reduction in pore size
• 27% reduction in facial wrinkles
• 31% reduction in sagging, laxity.

Q&A with Dr Catherine Law

Cosmetic Physician, Victorian Cosmetic Institute

Why do you recommend the ZO® Skin Health range?

ZO® is one of the most advanced medical-grade brands in the market. The products are powerful and efficient tools and complement our injectable and energy-based device treatments at Victorian Cosmetic Institute.

ZO® Skin Health has a wide range of retinol products. What are the benefits of being able to choose from a variety of strengths?

We understand that there is a retinisation process our skins go through when retinol is first used, ie redness, peeling, sensitivity. Being able to start low, go slow and then work our way up helps to build compliance in our patients. For those who are already on retinol, we readjust the strength to cater to their current skin needs. And before the skin gets too content with the current strength, we rejig it with even higher doses to achieve better results.

What excites you most about the new Complex A+ retinol?

Complex A+ is the strongest tretinoin alternative. It targets severely sun damaged and aged skin, and we know how relevant this issue is in Australia. Under proper guidance, patients can achieve their skin goals in a short period of time.

ZO®’s retinol delivery system, through its unique oleosome and microemulsion technology, is a standout feature. I equate this to a trojan horse theory, where retinol is delivered into deeper layers and gets absorbed to do its wonders.

What results are you observing with this product, and in what timeframe?

I am observing a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, pigment resolution and improved skin barriers in around 6 weeks.

What is the patient experience like?

Complex A+ is not for the faint- hearted. Patients generally need hand-holding in the initial 3-4 weeks when the skin is red and peeling and going through acute reactions. Once the skin is retinised, it appears as a smoother epidermis and a firmer dermal layer – that is when our patients are on the ‘brighter’ side to witness the wonderful changes to their skin. AMP
