Zecca is based in Sydney yet has had a lot of success bringing non-surgical treatments to remote, regional towns like Broken Hill. What was the impetus for offering these services?
Our regional business has been going for quite some time. It all started when we were already established in Sydney for a few years, then in 2004 we were approached by one of the well- known cosmetic medical suppliers. A client of theirs had been offering their services in Broken Hill but due to personal reasons could no longer service that area. The owner of the clinic approached the company who in turn asked us. We seized the opportunity to expand our horizons and saw it as an adventure.

Never had we imagined that we would be welcomed into such a tight-knit community like Broken Hill. We definitely feel a special affinity to the town and this has led to more opportunities to open in Orange and now Parkes as well.
Those that live in the country want to have access to all of the same services available in the ‘Big Smoke’. They really appreciate the lengths we go to in getting there and bringing all of our supplies with us.
Ever since the Clear + Brilliant laser was launched on the Australian market, we thought it would be the perfect laser for travel. In fact, the box that we carry it in looks like it belongs to REX airlines as it’s being held together with their tape plastered all over it. It’s definitely a frequent flyer and should have reached platinum status by now!
What have been the main benefits, for both clients and the practice?
A main benefit to our clients is giving them the opportunity to have laser without having to come to Sydney. Helping them reduce the appearance of fine lines, attain glowing skin, refine the appearance of pores and improve their overall skin’s appearance makes it a winner for them and us. It has certainly impressed upon them the importance of looking after their skin as well.
How can Clear + Brilliant help to maintain good skin health in regional settings where access to aesthetic medical services is limited?
Those living in the outback are under extreme weather conditions and unfortunately it shows on their skin. It’s actually not uncommon for some clients to travel up to 6 hours just to see us in Broken Hill; it’s very important for us to offer them as much as we can in that appointment with us.
As a practice, the Clear + Brilliant laser has given us the chance to tackle skin issues without disrupting the clients’ lives too much, so limited downtime with excellent results.
Quite often in our world of cosmetic medicine, clients can get focused on wrinkles and loss of fullness. How do you advise clients in remote towns with less frequent access to aesthetic medical professionals to maintain skin health between treatments?
Skin protection, skin protection, skin protection! Our goal at each visit is to promote this message whenever possible. We always advocate daily application of zinc- based sunscreens as well as hats, sunglasses and long-sleeved shirts.
We even have a few clients who have applied tinting to their car windows and trucks after much begging from us. It is quite profound to see the sun damage to their skin on the driver’s side compared with the other side.
