Versatile, powerful and user-friendly, Tetra PRO by Deka delivers everything from surface-level rejuvenation to deep dermal correction – offering minimal downtime, maximum efficacy and zero consumables.

Already recognised as a standout performer in its category (winning Best Laser, Lights and Energy-Based Device at the 2024 AMWC Aesthetic Medicine Awards), Tetra PRO is designed to meet the growing demand for faster, more customisable aesthetic treatments with minimal downtime.

At the heart of its performance is Deka’s proprietary Pulse Shape Design® (PSD) technology, which allows for unprecedented control over fractional laser delivery. Practitioners can tailor treatments by adjusting pulse shape, duration and peak power, resulting in highly individualised outcomes while minimising thermal damage, discomfort and recovery time.

This precision is further enhanced by SmartStack technology, which delivers laser energy in up to five stacked pulses over the same area, optimising clinical effect and reducing the risk of side effects.

One of Tetra PRO’s standout advantages is its globally recognised CoolPeel™ treatment – a 10-minute, low-downtime CO2 skin resurfacing procedure which uses a unique laser emission mode for effective rejuvenation with minimal lifestyle disruption.

The Tetra PRO platform also offers outstanding versatility with its multi-mode pulse delivery and range of scan shapes and modes. The expanded 20x20mm scanner area also translates to 30 percent faster treatment times. This, combined with advanced scanning systems like DOT PRO, Scar 3 PRO and DermaScan, enables a broad range of procedures – from skin resurfacing and scar revision to blepharoplasty and dermatological surgery.

Why did you choose the Deka Tetra PRO in your clinic?

We have been offering ablative CO2 to our patients for the past 17 years, however there has been a shift in the industry over the past year, which has led to more awareness of the importance of skin quality. This increased demand led us to adopting a newer system, the Tetra PRO by Deka. It is three times as fast as our older generation CO2, making it a great asset to our practice. Additionally, Tetra PRO’s CoolPeel™ settings allows us to provide entry-level resurfacing that is not only effective but offers minimal downtime.

What indications are you treating, and how does it compare with other resurfacing systems you’ve used?

Tetra PRO’s unique tuneable pulse structure means this system can reliably and efficiently treat all skin types, ranging from Fitzpatrick 1 to 6.

With the fractional handpiece, we can provide skin rejuvenation in skin types 1 to 4 to improve pigment, skin quality, wrinkles, photodamage and pore size. With the advanced Scar 3 scanner, we can address deeper dermal pathology in high skin types, all the way to skin type 6.

For dermatologists and plastic surgeons, the Derma Scan handpieces are useful for fully- ablative procedures, addressing adenexal tumours, actinic chelitis and rhinophyma.

In summary, the Tetra PRO has the flexibility to provide a reliable and efficient platform that is easily mastered by novices, and plenty of power for more advanced users.

‘TETRA PRO HAS THE FLEXIBILITY TO PROVIDE A RELIABLE AND EFFICIENT PLATFORM THAT IS EASILY MASTERED BY NOVICES, AND PLENTY OF POWER FOR ADVANCED USERS.’

How does the Tetra PRO help you manage the all-important balance between results and recovery?

The customisable beam profiles and dwell times, coupled with tailored densities, enables my team and I to dial in the Tetra PRO for optimal results, whilst minimising recovery. In particular, Deka’s CoolPeel™ delivers precise pulses of laser energy to provide predictable results whilst minimising downtime.

For laser enthusiasts out there, Tetra PRO’s pulse structure truly is the standout feature of this laser. It enables the clinician to precisely dial in settings to deliver outstanding results, with minimal downtime. It does this while mitigating side effects such as prolonged erythema and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is not uncommon with older and less sophisticated ablative laser systems.

How are you utilising Tetra PRO’s advanced settings to enhance patient outcomes?

Tetra PRO has advanced software and hardware that sets it apart from other CO2 systems. The software is fully integrated with the device to offer customisable settings ranging from power to pulse structure, enabling users to tailor beam profiles according to the requirements of the particular treatment.

Hardware upgrades include the Scar 3 handpiece which delivers energy up to 6mm deep whilst minimising spot diameter. The unique Derma Scan handpieces, with 4 and 7 inch focal lengths, allows practitioners to employ this laser in a fully ablative mode.

How easy is it to delegate treatments like CoolPeel™ to your team?

Delegating the CoolPeel™ treatment (DEKA’s low-density CO2 laser protocol) to trained team members is relatively straightforward, provided a few key conditions are met. The CoolPeel™ setting is designed for minimal thermal damage, lower risk of PIH and predictable downtime, making it a more reliable modality to delegate compared with fully ablative CO2 passes.

At my practice, I start my junior procedural nurses with this mode. When they master this setting (typically within 3 months), they then graduate up to more intensive settings and treatments.

From a user perspective, how intuitive is the platform?

Deka has provided reliable and effective presets with the Tetra PRO system, which are recommended for less experienced clinicians to follow. A more experienced clinician will explore the plethora of customisation options, including the ability to cleanly stack, adjust pulse structure and customise pulse widths. This takes the procedure and results to the next level.

Deka has made Tetra PRO a simple laser with presets, as well as an intellectually fulfilling device to use with fully customisable parameters – perfect for all levels of practitioners.

What advice would you give to clinics considering the Tetra PRO?

The shift of emphasis on skin quality means that lasers are a must for any skin clinic. CO2 lasers like Tetra PRO provide the versatility of improving skin luminosity, reducing pigment, improving skin texture and, with higher settings, the ability to address deep dermal pathology such as scarring and rhytides. Tetra PRO by Deka is unique as it can cover the  spectrum of skin concerns from superficial (CoolPeel™ setting) to deep pathology in the one device, all without any consumables. The platform’s versatility lies in the way it delivers its pulse structure, which influences downtime, efficacy and outcome. It’s a device worth investing in. AMP
