Why did you choose to invest in the Tetra PRO technology?

The efficacy and versatility of the Tetra PRO impressed me the most. In a busy practice, a fractionated CO₂ system that achieves outstanding results in a few treatments is essential. Whether it’s acne or surgical scars, anti-ageing rejuvenation or resurfacing treatments, CO₂ laser is an established technology that is recognised as a gold-standard dermatological treatment.

We trialled all the well-known systems for over a month at a time (five laser systems in total). At the end of the process, it was clear to me, and our entire team, that the Deka Tetra PRO was the obvious choice. What advancements in the Tetra PRO laser distinguish it from other CO₂ laser technologies?

The Tetra PRO has several technological features that allow us to modify the way fractional laser energy is delivered to the skin. We can accurately control the amount of heat that is deposited into the treatment area at the same time as the fractional ablation. At times, we increase the heat in a controlled way to improve the results, and at other times, we reduce the heat to decrease the potential risk of side effects.

The combination of Pulse Shape Design, SmartTrack, Spray Mode and SmartStack gives us a greater level of control. It means we can offer the benefits of fractional CO₂ laser to a greater number of our patients across all skin types and reduce the risk of side effects while improving clinical outcomes.

How does DEKA’s technology achieve maximum ablation with minimal thermal effect?

One of the three pulse options, part of the Pulse Shape Design, is the ‘High Pulse’ (HP). With HP we can create significant ablation at lower power settings and leave little to no residual heat in the skin after the pulse. It allows us to treat darker-skinned patients more strongly for indications such as acne scarring.

It also enables the CoolPeel™ treatment – a super-fast fractional CO₂ treatment for all skin types with 24-48 hours of minor redness only. Almost every patient in our clinic is a suitable candidate for CoolPeel™, which increases ROI significantly.

How does the Pulse Shape Design® technology enhance treatment precision and outcomes for patients?

From our experience, Pulse Shape Design® is a game-changer for resurfacing treatments. With the three different pulse shape options, we can tailor the treatment settings to suit the unique considerations of each patient. Whether it’s targeting the patient’s main concern, their skin type, risk factors for complications, downtime requirements, pain tolerance or expectations, we can select a pulse option that allows us to address individual patient considerations, while simultaneously optimising results.

Could you elaborate on the role of SmartStack, SmartTrack and Spray Mode technology in improving patient recovery and minimising downtime?

I have often heard laser companies and even some clinicians speak negatively about using stacking in dermatological resurfacing treatments. However, I think this might have to
do with the way in which some lasers deliver the energy to the skin during pulse stacks. In my experience, the Tetra Pro’s SmartStack technology allows us to treat more accurately
and strongly, while at the same time reducing downtime and risk of extended erythema.

SmartTrack enables the delivery of fractional dots to the skin in a random pattern, avoiding accumulated heat build-up during the treatment. This allows us to treat patients with darker skin more strongly, with less risk of PIH, and reduces the likelihood of extended erythema in all patients.

With Spray Mode, the position of the fractional pulses is randomly placed on the skin. This is ideal for CoolPeel™ and for blending around the perimeter of stronger corrective

treatments. It reduces how noticeable the fractional dots are during the healing phase.

In your experience, what types of skin conditions or patient demographics benefits most from Tetra PRO treatments?

When we decided to introduce a fractional CO₂ laser into the practice, it was because there was a clear need to provide patients with first- class results for acne scarring, deep lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and stretch marks – many typical dermatological indications for a CO₂ laser – and of course anti-ageing treatments for middle-aged and older patients.

However, now that we have the Tetra Pro with CoolPeel™, we realise we can offer treatment options to both our darker-skinned patients, who in the past might have been considered not suitable for CO₂ laser treatments, as well as our younger patients, who in the past would not have undergone CO₂ laser treatments because of the downtime.

What are the key benefits of the CoolPeel™ treatment?

CoolPeel™ is a 10-minute, rejuvenating laser treatment that offers many of the benefits of fractional CO₂ laser treatments, without the potential risk or downtime. It is also suitable for all skin types – we can offer treatment options to both our darker-skinned patients as well as our younger patients.

Typically, patients are red on the day of the treatment, pink the next day and then back to normal skin colour by day 3. Patient feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

How does MOVEO Mode optimise the CoolPeel™ treatment process?

The MOVEO technique means that we can treat patients with much greater speed and achieve more natural-looking results.

During the corrective part of the treatment, we can focus more accurately and efficiently on specific areas of treatment, while at the same time reducing patient discomfort. Near the end of the treatment, as we are blending the main treatment zone within the surrounding area, it allows us to achieve a more natural-looking result while reducing the likelihood of demarcation lines post-treatment.
