A NEW TECHNOLOGY IS PROVING THAT BETTER SKIN RESURFACING RESULTS DO NOT REQUIRE MORE TREATMENTS OR MORE DOWNTIME.
Halo is the world’s first and only hybrid fractional laser, delivering ablative fractional results with non-ablative downtime.
Halo is changing the paradigm of laser resurfacing, delivering the unprecedented results of ablative laser with the downtime of non- ablative laser.
In the past, patients who did not desire deep, full field Er:YAG resurfacing, which offered the best results but prolonged downtime, were given two options. They could choose ablative fractional treatments (fewer sessions, more downtime), or non-ablative fractional treatments (more sessions, lower downtime).
Today, Sciton have completely changed this idea, with a new resurfacing technology that proves better results do not necessarily require either more downtime or more treatments.
Part of the comprehensive JOULE platform, Halo combines the best attributes of both non-ablative and ablative fractional lasers for immediate overall skin improvement, allowing ablative-like results with non-ablative-like downtimes.
Queensland dermatologist Dr Sally de Zwaan and Registered Nurse Sarah Relic from Coco Skin Laser Heath introduced the Halo in 2016 after running a clinical trial with the platform.
We were very impressed with the technology and have treated a wide range of skin problems for both males and females. Some of these include enlarged pores, wrinkles, pigmentation and skin rejuvenation. I was quickly convinced to have the treatment myself,” says Dr de Zwaan.
“In my experience, the Halo has superior results with shorter downtimes than other fractionated lasers or ablative lasers. In comparison with other lasers, we have seen some of our best results for pigmented skin problems. The Halo is safe for treating darker skin types and achieves excellent results after only one treatment,” says Relic.
HALO IN PRACTICE
Beyond the hybrid technology, Halo has many unique features that help improve usability and safety, including a dual wavelength Dynamic Thermal Optimization technology and intelligent energy- based parameters.
“The Halo’s combination of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to the same microscopic zone improves healing time and therefore reduces downtime. The dual laser component generates excellent benefits to both superficial and deep tissues in the skin. It is reliable and is easy to use with its intuitive user interface,” says Dr de Zwaan.
“The non-ablative wavelength 1470nm removes unwanted pigmentation from superficial and deeper tissue. The ablative wavelength 2940nm is applied to the same microscopic zone and improves healing time as well as creating tightening and collagen renewal. By combining the two, you save time and money,” says Relic.
The unique new Dynamic Thermal Optimization (DTO) technology ensures tunable treatments for reliable and consistent results.
This is because the depth of a treatment can often change with the temperature of the skin, resulting in treatments that go deeper than expected. DTO technology avoids this occurrence and monitors the temperature of the skin before each pulse, adjusting the delivery of energy to ensure the depth of the treatment matches that on the user screen.
Halo also uses intelligent energy- based parameters to ensure a consistently even treatment by measuring the size of the area being treated and calculating the energy necessary to complete the treatment.
“The number of treatments required depends on the patient and their individual goals for their treatment. A single treatment gives outstanding results for tightening, evening skin tone, reducing pore size and improving skin texture but we see even greater outcomes with repeated treatments,” says Relic.
Halo sets a new standard for laser resurfacing, providing a reliable, tunable, and effective long-term hybrid option for overall skin rejuvenation procedures.
“We have been utilising Sciton lasers for over 10 years and are big supporters of their technology. The introduction of the Halo and its proven capability demonstrates that Halo is and will continue to be a game changer in the industry,” concludes Dr de Zwaan. AMP
