Discover a clear difference in platelet-rich plasma therapy with EmCyte PurePRP, a cutting-edge system renowned for its high platelet concentration and exceptional purity.

Distributed by High Tech Medical, the EmCyte PurePRP system is a ground-breaking development in PurePRP technology for the face, neck and body, offering unparalleled purity and concentrations in PurePRP samples.

EmCyte offers a holistic approach to rejuvenate and revitalise skin by harnessing nature’s elements for skin rejuvenation, helping to restore natural volume, improve skin elasticity, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and promote hair growth.

EmCyte enhances the healing and regeneration of skin with the use of platelet-derived exosomes, growth factors, mononuclear cells and regenerative macrophages to help restore skin integrity as well as reduce excessive inflammation. When applied, these molecules accelerate skin regeneration in multiple ways, including cell proliferation, collagen synthesis, connective tissue regeneration and the eradication of senescent cells causing skin imperfections.

How long have you been using PurePRP therapy, and why is it important to offer this treatment to your patients?

I have been performing PurePRP therapy for about a year and have been very pleased with the results for my patients. I am a retired neurosurgeon (retired in 2019 due to hand dermatitis) and whilst I was retraining in medical aesthetics, I was constantly searching for alternatives to the more common injectables. It was important to my husband, plastic surgeon Dr Stephen Salerno, and I, that our clinic offer treatments that deliver more natural results, backed by science.

Our patients are largely between the ages of 40 and 70 and show varying degrees of ageing. Even though we offer traditional injectables, we often start their journey with PurePRP treatments that act as a basis for rejuvenating their tissues. In most cases, the amount of dermal filler that is required is significantly reduced, and in some cases PurePRP has re- volumised the tissues to the point that filler is not needed.

For which indications do you most commonly use PurePRP?

We mostly use PurePRP treatments for facial rejuvenation and are increasingly including the neck in the treatment. We see great results with refining the skin and creating a more even skin tone, minimising enlarged pores, improving skin laxity and re- volumising lost fat pads. We are also seeing incredible results in patients with acne scarring.

Another group of patients that benefit greatly are those with under- eye problems. Whether they have dark circles, crepey skin or lower eye bags, we will often see an improvement following PurePRP treatments. Depending on the severity of the under-eye issue, we may recommend combination treatment with radiofrequency. Tear trough filler has a number of problems and not all patients are candidates, so I believe EmCyte PurePRP offers an excellent alternative that won’t interfere with the lymphatics.

We also have the Artas robot for hair transplantation for patients seeking hair restoration. We use PurePRP in the scalp either on its own or prior to the hair transplant to improve scalp health, in order to increase the success of the transplants.

Why is EmCyte your PurePRP system of choice?

EmCyte PurePRP is my system of choice simply because it delivers high numbers of platelets (10 billion) with each treatment which has been shown to be required to stimulate cells to regenerate. There are many systems available, but most do not deliver high number of platelets and mononuclear cells. Any benefit that is noted in the use of these systems is more likely related to the associated microneedling that is performed as part of the treatment. The EmCyte system is well documented to deliver excellent results, not only in the aesthetic arena but also in musculocutaneous injuries.

EmCyte PurePRP is a closed system that prevents contamination and is quick and easy to use.

What are the synergistic benefits of using PurePRP with other modalities?

In our clinic, we often use PurePRP in conjunction with radiofrequency resurfacing in patients with acne scarring. Depending on the severity of the scarring, we will either complete three treatments of EmCyte PurePRP one month apart or use the PurePRP in combination with RF resurfacing together in the same sitting. The advantages are that heat treatments create a complementary physiological environment conducive to the activity of growth factors.

Both treatments stimulate collagen production and help remodel the scar, thereby acting in a synergistic manner to accentuate the results. I have observed reduced downtime from the RF treatment because of the effect of the growth factors that are released from the PurePRP which in themselves aid healing.

How has EmCyte PurePRP benefitted your practice?

EmCyte PurePRP greatly benefitted our practice because it has enabled us to offer an alternative treatment. Our patients have enjoyed natural- looking results with respect to facial rejuvenation, with regeneration of their tissues using their own blood and growth factors.

The results speak for themselves and have led us to have a significant growth in word-of-mouth referrals. We have also treated patients who have had PurePRP treatments in the past using other systems and have not enjoyed significant benefits but have certainly enjoyed the results with the EmCyte system.

Why would you recommend EmCyte PurePRP?

EmCyte PurePRP is a high-volume (60ml of blood is taken from the patient) double-spin system that delivers 10 billion platelets with each treatment. The number of platelets is crucial for results. Systems that rely on small volumes of blood simply cannot deliver the number of platelets that are required to stimulate the cells to regenerate.

Further to this, the EmCyte system has a specific design known as a top-down system that allows the plasma to be easily retrieved from the cannister but also delivers plasma with high numbers of monocytes that are extremely important in the healing and rejuvenation of tissues. Other systems that use smaller volumes of blood are not supported in the literature.

The customer service from High Tech Medical is also exceptional, which is important when you are running a busy clinic.

Any advice for HCPs thinking about investing in an EmCyte system?

I firmly believe that the future of aesthetic medicine is in regenerative medicine and EmCyte PurePRP is perfectly placed to deliver ideal results in facial rejuvenation. Already, I am seeing a shift in patients who are looking for alternative treatments and want treatments that improve the appearance and function of the skin.

If you are a practitioner who has used a different system in the past and have not been impressed with the results of PurePRP, it is likely that it was a low-volume single-spin system that does not deliver the numbers of platelets required to regenerate tissue. The EmCyte system has been scientifically proven to have high numbers of platelets which are beneficial to facial rejuvenation.

My best advice if you are thinking of introducing a new treatment to your clinic is to always follow the science and not the marketing. In the medical aesthetic arena, it is very easy to get caught up in the marketing, but if you follow the science you can’t go wrong. AMP
