Dr Alastair Carruthers, a pioneer in the use of botulinum toxin, passed away on 19 August 2024, aged 79, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He leaves behind a remarkable imprint on the world of aesthetic medicine.

Dr Carruthers, alongside his wife Dr Jean Carruthers, revolutionised aesthetic treatments with the pioneering use of Botox for cosmetic use. His groundbreaking work has not only transformed the landscape of non-surgical cosmetic procedures but has also provided confidence to millions of consumers of botulinum toxin worldwide.

Dr Carruthers also made significant contributions to dermatologic surgery by introducing Mohs surgery to Canada, a method that significantly improved the precision and effectiveness of skin cancer treatments.
