Innovative Medical Technologies hosted the 11th Annual Fotona Asia-Pacific Meeting, held at the Park Hyatt Melbourne on 25-27 October.

With 37 speakers representing clinicians and researchers across five continents and 21 countries, the Fotona APAC Meeting 2025 brought together the latest advances in laser medicine and aesthetics. Alongside a robust scientific program, delegates enjoyed a glamourous social program that encouraged connection and collaboration.

The meeting opened with Jeff Duchemin, recently appointed CEO and President of Fotona, outlining a global strategy focused on customer-centric growth, patient outcomes and the expanding role of Fotona’s global LA&HA Institute (Laser and Health Academy), now with over 20 locations worldwide, including Melbourne.

IMT Director Sylvia Baltas delivered a warm welcome and reflected on the pride IMT founder Paul Baltas would have felt in seeing the event held in Australia for the first time. IMT CEO Sam Vlachos introduced the company, its ethos and post-event goals.

The program included dedicated streams in aesthetics, dentistry and gynaecology, each demonstrating the versatility of Fotona’s platforms. The welcome plenary featured ‘Redefining Tomorrow: Innovation with Fotona and LA&HA’ from Zdenko Vižintin and Polona Levačič (Slovenia), alongside cross-stream presentations.

Aesthetics stream highlights included Dr Lucas Chia (Malaysia/ Singapore) on Asian skin laser considerations, Dr Nicolas Rygaloff (France) on scar treatment optimisation, and Dr Shobhan Manoharan (Australia) on full-field and fractional Er:YAG laser resurfacing.

In the dentistry stream, Dr Fernando Duarte (Portugal) presented on advancing laser surgery with LightWalker, while Dr David Barnard (Australia) discussed SWEEPS endodontics using LightWalker and SkyPulse. The gynaecology stream included Dr Christian Phillips (UK) on patient selection for stress urinary incontinence treatment using laser and HITS, and Dr Neža Koron (Slovenia) on contemporary aesthetic gynaecology.

With its diverse international faculty, targeted workshops and balanced mix of scientific rigour and commercial practicality, the Fotona APAC Meeting 2025 reaffirmed Innovative Medical Technologies’ standing as a hub for advanced aesthetic and laser medicine in the region.
