The Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) Annual Conference, taking place from 4-6 October in Brisbane, provides the opportunity for Specialist Plastic Surgeons from Australia and New Zealand to come together to deepen their knowledge and keep abreast of the recent developments in Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr Naveen Somia, President of ASAPS, said this year’s Conference covers the entire body including facial cosmetic surgery, breast cosmetic surgery and body contouring surgeries. Having international experts from USA, Europe and South America share their knowledge is an added bonus.

ASAPS Conferences help develop a culture of lifelong learning that allows Plastic Surgeons to provide world-class Cosmetic Surgery to their patients,” Dr Somia said.
This year, ASAPS has partnered with the Melbourne Advanced Facial Anatomy Course (MAFAC), which will run on 2 and 3 October, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) Symposium to be held on 3 October.
Meeting of the Experts in Cosmetic Surgery
Scientific Convenor for the ASAPS Annual Conference, Dr Amira Sanki said this would be a week-long educational event for Plastic Surgeons.
“We are delighted to have some heavy hitters from the international aesthetics community coming to speak,” Dr Sanki said.
Dr Sam Hamra (USA) and Dr Andrew Jacono (USA) will be presenting at the MAFAC and as part of the ASAPS program sharing their knowledge as the true innovators in facial surgery. They will elaborate on primary and secondary facial rejuvenation surgery.
ISAPS President, Dr Dirk Richter (Germany), will be presenting at the ISAPS Symposium on intimate male surgeries and then staying on to speak about facial and body contouring after massive weight loss during the ASAPS program.
ISAPS Vice-President, Dr Lina Triana (Colombia), will be speaking at the ISAPS Symposium about intimate female surgeries and then at the ASAPS Conference about liposuction, augmentation mastopexy, gluteal implants versus fat-grafting, as well how she balances work and family life.
Dr Brad Calobrace (USA) will present as part of the ISAPS Symposium program, and he will also be a key speaker in the inaugural Aesthetic Breast Workshop speaking about breast surgeries and the raft of techniques available to treat different complexities.
Dr Sanki said there lots of new initiatives happening as part of this year’s Conference.
“There will be a separate stream held for Specialist Plastic Surgeons who have recently leapt into private practice focussing on aesthetic breast surgery. The Aesthetic Breast Course will provide business and surgical pearls from leading surgeons to help ensure this transition is a smooth one.
“Practice staff are in for a real treat with a shake-up of the business sessions, starting with an offsite tour of two esteemed practices in Brisbane. This tour will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to peek behind the curtains and to take home some new thinking of how best to run an aesthetic practice,” Dr Sanki said.
