Business and clinical mastery took centre stage at APAN’s inaugural aesthetics summit on 19-20 May on the Gold Coast.

The Aesthetics Practitioners Advisory Network (APAN) elevated its annual conference with its first-ever ‘Thriving Aesthetics Summit’.

This year’s theme was ‘Clinical and Business Mastery’, moderated by Prof Terry Everitt. Highlights from the 2-day event included:

Brisbane dermatologist Dr Shobhan Manoharan presented on Advances in Laser and Energy-Based Devices. He then joined a panel discussion with industry experts including cosmetic chemist Jacine Greenwood, dermal clinician and aesthetics educator Gay Wardle, Dermalogica senior educator Susan Neilon and medical cosmetic tattooist Katherine McCann.

Biomedical researcher, Dr Belal Chami discussed the role of antioxidants on inflammation and skin ageing. Medical director of InstantCosmetics, Dr Built provided an update on the evolution of cosmetic injectable techniques and products. Trevor Neale presented on Evaluating Energy-based Aesthetic Technologies.

Navigating the business landscape in 2024 was also covered: Internationally renowned public speaker and author Trevor Ambrose explained How to Build a Thriving Business that Works for You; Trish Hammond, social media guru, presented on important changes to achieve results through social media; journalist and TV presenter Kirstie Fitzpatrick shared her knowledge on the key strategies for Pitching Your Story to the Media and also moderated the business panel Rising Above Business Volatility in 2024.

Robert McGowan moderated the highly anticipated TGA and Ahpra regulatory compliance panel through discussion on recommended permissible terminology that meet the new guidelines.

The first day, Sunday, ended on a fun and relaxed note with a sumptuous cocktail event, accompanied by the groovy sounds of the Jake Meywes Trio.

The second day was dedicated to the 22-workshop program, presenting the latest industry concepts and techniques delivered by leading educational experts.
