The Australasian College of Aesthetic Medicine (ACAM) has announced a new representative board, elected at their AGM, held via Zoom, on 2 December, 2020.
The new office holders are Assoc. Professor Gabrielle Caswell, President, Dr Jass Narulla, Vice President and Dr Helen Maloof, Treasurer, with the Secretary position to be filled at a later date.
Assoc. Professor Caswell later said, “ACAM is a long established college, which is attractive to younger members of our profession. It is exciting to be part of the education of the next generation of cosmetic physicians.
“The new board of ACAM will be seeking to establish firm inter-college and society relationships, to strengthen the overall status of our profession. Our intent will be to represent our members politically and educationally; and to serve their needs as the profession grows. The organisation exists for the benefit of the members, and that will be the boards cardinal focus.
“ACAM has the foundation to deliver premier education in the cosmetic medicine profession, focussing on skills that cosmetic physicians need to build a robust practice, more important than ever, on the mist of the pandemic, where all medical practices have had to adjust to new working conditions.”
“The COVID -19 crisis will lead to the longer term reshaping of education delivery, but it also means there is an opportunity to modernise medical education, similar to the leap that telemedicine delivered to general practice. It’s an exciting time to be involved in medical education.”
The board will be completed by directors Dr Larissa Miller and Dr Jemima Grant who continue tenure, and will be joined by Dr Mutti Khan and Dr Adam Rish; Dr Sharron Phillipson will continue in her role as Censor in Chief for the immediate future.
At the close of the AGM, the incoming board took the opportunity to publicly thank the departing board for their work over the past year, in particular Dr Rachel Gronke, Dr Andrew Haig, Dr Peter Ryan, and Dr Larry Gahan for their contributions.
The incoming board also announced that their initial aim will be to liaise with the ACAM membership and similar cosmetic medicine representative organisations to increase intra-college and society cooperation.
