Composition & mechanism of action

• S-TCA (sodium trichloroacetic acid): the core exfoliating agent inducing controlled denaturation of the stratum corneum.
• Alpha-, beta- and polyhydroxy acids (citric, tartaric, salicylic, lactobionic): synergistically enhances exfoliation and has antimicrobial action.
• Amino acids and vitamins (C, arginine, GABA, riboflavin): mechanical support, collagen synthesis, rebalancing of pH, provides antioxidant protection.
• Isopropyl myristate and squalane: components of the lipophilic phase that stabilise S-TCA and restore the lipid barrier.
Unlike traditional peels where TCA is buffered with sodium hydroxide or ammonia, BioRePeelCl3 is buffered with arginine and utilises lipophilic stabilisation, making it non-aggressive, yet highly effective. It behaves like a medium-depth peel with the comfort and safety profile of a superficial peel, even suitable for patients with inflammatory acne.
Biphasic technology
The BioRePeelCl3 biphasic system – a visible separation of yellow (hydrophilic) and blue (lipophilic) layers – ensures chemical stability and sequential action.
- The hydrophilic phase acts first by chemical and physical denaturation of keratinocytes and loosening corneocyte cohesion.
- Once permeability is achieved, molecules penetrate the dermo-epidermal junction.
- The lipophilic phase delivers hydration, restoration of the lipid barrier and indirectly supports the modulation of inflammation.
This dual action explains the excellent tolerability, absence of frosting (for uncompromised skin) and instant radiance observed post-procedure.
Mechanistic rationale in acne
BioRePeelCl3 acts through a multifactorial mechanism particularly suited for acneic and post-acneic skin:
• Antimicrobial action: Salicylic and tartaric acids reduce Cutibacterium acnes proliferation due to the chemical and physical multifactorial action.
• Sebum regulation: Balanced exfoliation helps prevent follicular obstruction.
• Collagen remodelling: Amino acids and trichloroacetate ions cause cellular necrosis which leads to a turnover of fibroblast cells, improving scar texture.
• Barrier restoration: Squalane and isopropyl myristate reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL), promoting a hydrating environment which supports the regenerate epidermal lipids.
Clinical evidence & outcomes
According to clinical observations presented by Dr Firas Al-Niaimi and Dr Samer Al Jalbout during the IMCAS Academy Webinar (September 2025), patients undergoing five sessions of BioRePeelCl3 for acne demonstrated:
• Significant reduction in inflammatory lesions
• Smoother skin texture and visible softening of atrophic scars
• Decrease in post-inflammatory erythema and pigmentation
• No adverse events or prolonged erythema.
Before-and-after documentation consistently showed improved luminosity and uniformity of the skin after a few weeks of treatment.
