The DermaV by Lutronic, combines the essential wavelengths, fluences and pulse widths for vascular, pigment and rejuvenation treatments into a single, powerful platform.

Lutronic, the global leader in intelligent, energy-based systems for medical aesthetics, introduces DermaV, a ground-breaking dermatology workstation.

DermaV treats multiple indications that Practitioners look for in one device to treat – vascular, pigment and skin rejuvenation – into a single, powerful and user-friendly technology.

Combining gold standard Integrated Cooling Device  (ICD) skin cooling, optimal fluence, optimal wavelengths and flexible pulse duration, the DermaV redefines what a 532nm ‘green’ laser can be. The DermaV has over three times more power than the next best green laser, resulting in a wider range of fluence and spot sizes, that help the wavelength penetrate deeper. It dramatically increases the range of possible treatments compared to green lasers of the past.

Optimal cryogen based epidermal protection allows the operator to treat with the energy and power required for tough vascular lesions and to work quickly and efficiently, while providing comfort without pressure sensitivity or contact gels.

IntelliTrack™, DermaV’s proprietary, contact-based speed sensing technology, automatically tracks movement of the handpiece, delivering perfect coverage of the treatment area three times faster.

The ultimate dermatology platform

  • Combines the optimal wavelengths, fluences and pulse widths with the most effective cooling technology
  • Treats multiple indications safely and comfortably in only a few sessions
  • Unprecedented versatility and capability: Sequential Pulsing, IntelliTrak™ & Accelerated Revitalisation with Tracking (A.R.T.)™

How long have you been using DermaV and what made you choose this laser?

I’ve had the DermaV for about a year now. Our previous green light laser had been very reliable right up until it died and was no longer able to be fixed.

I’ve known the developer of the DermaV since he started in the industry and I know him to be an honest and brilliant man who listens to what we clinicians want and need and works to develop the best solutions for us, so I was interested to see this new laser come out.

It is a very versatile laser with its parameters being changeable and controllable to suit the skin and indication presented.

What role does a ‘green’ laser play in your practice?

The bread and butter of cosmetic laser practice is treatment of red and brown discolouration. This is exactly what green light targets, so it’s a bit of a ‘go to’ wavelength for many concerns.

In your experience, what are the key benefits of DermaV?

The cryogen cooling is very effective in terms of epidermal protection and reducing discomfort and it is tuneable to requirements. It can be used before and/or after the laser pulse and the duration can be specified. You can also switch it off when needed.

The laser pulses are also very tuneable, not just in terms of fluence and pulse duration, but also the way the pulses are delivered. The pulses can be broken up into pulse streams which mimic the way, say, pulsed dye laser pulses are delivered, and this does change the effect produced.

What types of conditions have you been able to treat with DermaV that did not respond as well to other laser treatments?

I think we’re still learning the benefits of the DermaV, but we’ve used it when IPL has maxed out in its effects in improving pigmentation

or redness and it’s also provided an alternative for the pulsed dye laser when some effects on port wine stains have plateaued. Sometimes it’s good just to have a different wavelength to treat any indication.

The DermaV also has the 1064nm wavelength and I’ve found it particularly rewarding for treating periorbital veins. I can use quite a decent spot size, due to the powerful nature of the laser and still be very safe due to the very effective cooling available.

Do you use any special treatment protocols or programs?

Lutronic provides safe user guidelines for many different indications, including general rejuvenation, red and brown

pigmented lesions and unwanted vessels and various different spot treatments. These are a useful starting point, especially if delegating treatments to staff members. One can also store favourite settings in the device’s memory for future use.

What are your patients saying?

I think the biggest improvement has been the improvement in comfort, from a patient perspective. It’s certainly made a big difference for those patients who have loads of seborrhoeic keratoses everywhere! That also means we can get more done in a session as we’re not limited by their tolerance and it is very quick.

When treating lots of vessels on the face, we have had some patients who have experienced some swelling, but that would likely occur with any device.

I really think we are still learning with this laser and we’ll get more and more out of it as we use it more and explore its innovations. AMP
