Now with the latest AccuREPtm technology and four interchangeable handpiece tips, Thermage by Solta Medical is a legacy line intent on changing the future.

With over two million treatments performed worldwide, Thermage by Solta Medical is a global leader in non-invasive skin tightening technologies. Now, the fourth generation Thermage system, Thermage FLX, is using a new handpiece tip and real-time impedance tuning to reduce treatment times and deliver better results than ever before.

With one handpiece and four interchangeable tips, this patented radiofrequency (RF) device is indicated to treat the face, eyes and body. The new Total Tip 4.0 covers 33 per cent more surface area than the Total Tip 3.0, making treatment times 25 per cent faster.

Thermage FLX boasts a light, ergonomically designed handpiece with multi-directional vibration and a large touchscreen with a user-friendly interface, making the system easier to navigate than its predecessors. Enhanced face and body vibration helps maintain patient comfort during treatments.

How it works

Thermage FLX delivers monopolar RF energy to the surface of the skin via cryogen-cooled tips attached to a handpiece. This technology heats the dermal tissue while protecting the more superficial layers of the epidermis and dermis.

Treatments last 30-90 minutes depending on the treatment area. Some patients have temporary redness or minor swelling after treatment, but for most the Thermage FLX treatment requires zero downtime.

Unlike many cosmetic procedures, Thermage FLX delivers results aftera single treatment. These results gradually appear two to six months post-treatment and, depending on the skin condition and ageing journey of the patient, can last years. Thermage FLX delivers impressive, easy to predict results and has been found to improve facial and skin laxity in 96 per cent of patients.

About AccuREPTM

Previous versions of Thermage like Thermage CPT required tuning at the beginning of each treatment session. This average impedance measurement would then be used for all subsequent therapeutic radiofrequency energy pulses (REPs). While reasonably e ective, this method can lead to some variability in the amount of energy delivered to the target tissue when local impedance at the treatment site is not the same as the average impedance value to which the system was tuned prior to treatment.

The Thermage FLX system uses AccuREPTM technology to integrate tuning pulses into each individual REP. These tuning pulses automatically measure local impedance values and adjust energy output parameters to deliver consistent energy from one treatment site to the next.

What attracted you to Thermage FLX?
Thermage FLX, being monopolar RF, is capable of penetrating all of the skin’s layers, including the subcutaneous skin layers, to uniformly treat the entire tissue. This device achieves excellent results from only one treatment, and these results last three to five years for most of our patients.

Other bipolar RF technologies can only penetrate the skin to a minimal level and hence will achieve very limited short term results compared to Thermage FLX. Ultrasound based treatment modalities require more than one treatment and also produce minimal results that are very short lived.

Who is your typical Thermage FLX patient?
Our typical Thermage patient is a female or male aged between 35 and 75. These patients want to slow down the signs of ageing and look younger, fresher and more rejuvenated without downtime or the risks associated with facelift surgery. We have safely, and without side e ects, performed over 5,000 Thermage treatments since 2006.

What kind of results have you achieved with Thermage FLX?
We have had a success rate of over 95 per cent with our Thermage treatments, with patients looking younger, fresher and more rejuvenated. Our oldest patient is a 94-year-old male that has had three treatments over the last 10 years. The most popular treatment regions are the face, jowls, neck and eyebrows. Other common areas include the abdomen, upper arms, buttocks and above the knees.

Do you use Thermage FLX in combination with any other treatments?
Thermage can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments such as face and neck threads, Fraxel laser skin repair, eyelid hooding blepharoplasty and face fat transfer. Combinational treatments can achieve amazing results for patients that have signi cant ageing, without the need for facelift surgery.

How does Thermage FLX benefit your practice?
Thermage has been our most reputable treatment over the last 13 years and is an excellent tool for our practice. Thermage FLX is our latest addition, with increasingly rewarding results for patients who want non-surgical skin rejuvenation and tightening. Working with Solta Medical has been very rewarding. They’ve provided training and support, and have supplied excellent, cutting-edge technology with Thermage FLX.

What attracted you to Thermage FLX?
When Skin Renu opened 11 years ago, Thermage immediately became one of our top performing treatments as it consistently delivered great outcomes. Naturally, we were excited to hear about the launch of the next generation Thermage system, a sleek new platform developed with game-changing improvements. The bio-feedback provided by the newly added AccuREPTM technology really made Thermage FLX stand out.

Who is your typical Thermage FLX patient?
A typical Thermage FLX patient is someone who understands the need to care for their skin at a deeper. As a one-o treatment performed biannually or annually with no downtime, Thermage FLX appeals to a variety of patients.

Our younger patients see Thermage FLX as an e ective way of delaying thefirst visible signs of ageing. Many young mothers choose Thermage FLX for treating post-baby lax tummy skin. Our more mature patients turn to Thermage FLX for the tightening and lift it provides.

What kind of results has Skin Renu achieved with Thermage FLX?
Thermage FLX has been delivering a more noticeable immediate e ect than the previous generation. We will stop the treatment after completing one side of the face or body and allow the patient to compare the two sides. We recently treated a 39-year-old female who was concerned with the lax skin above her knees. When we showed her the results on thefirst leg she was amazed.

I believe the best measure of Thermage FLX, and indeed all Thermage, is the loyalty of our clients. When existing patients heard about the development of Thermage FLX, they were eager to try the new technology as there was an inherent trust in the brand.

Do you use Thermage FLX in combination with any other treatments?
Thermage FLX works beautifully with a range of other treatments, from Clear + Brilliant to Fraxel, INFINI to PICO Genesis, to all injectables.

How does Thermage FLX benefit your practice?
Since satisfaction and trust are the cornerstones of any business, by delivering on its promises Thermage FLX allows us to build strong relationships with our patients. The people behind Solta are the frontline and face of the company. There is always someone available to help with enquires. Angie Meredith, our BDM, is e cient, professional and an absolute gem. AMP
