DEKA’s Onda Pro expands into facial contouring

With the introduction of Precision-GigaWave technology, the Onda PRO system extends beyond body contouring into non-invasive facial tightening and lifting.

Onda PRO represents the latest evolution of Deka’s Onda Coolwaves technology, designed to target localised fat, tighten skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite through its proprietary Coolwaves microwave-based platform.

With the introduction of Precision-GigaWave (PGW) technology and a newly designed Pocket handpiece, Coolwaves can now also be used for contouring and skin tightening on the face and neck, making the Onda PRO an all-in-one face and body contouring and skin tightening platform.

Developed by Deka and distributed by High Tech Medical, the new facial application of Onda PRO is designed to address skin laxity and submental fat with a level of selectivity and control suited to facial anatomy. Central to this expansion is PGW technology, which allows Coolwaves technology to be delivered in an even more precise and confined manner. The exceptional selectivity of PGW technology produces a visible tightening and lifting effect within targeted facial tissue layers.

Internationally, the Onda PRO platform has already gained visibility beyond the clinic setting, with public figures including Miranda Kerr and Cindy Crawford posting about their Onda PRO treatments on social media.

Expanding the Onda platform

This facial expansion builds on the established performance of the original Onda system. Onda PRO is the world’s first and only device to harness microwave technology for both face and body applications, offering precise, reliable non-invasive contouring with minimal discomfort and downtime.

The system has been developed to support a wide range of patient presentations, including peri- and post-menopausal bodies and skin laxity following significant weight loss. In these cohorts, changes in fat distribution and tissue firmness often require treatment approaches that address both contour and skin quality, rather than fat reduction alone.

Controlled thermal delivery with Coolwaves

The effectiveness of Onda PRO lies in its ability to deliver large amounts of heat at the required tissue depth for a prolonged period of time, while keeping the skin surface at a comfortable temperature. This balance is achieved through controlled microwave emission combined with a smart integrated cooling system.

The Onda PRO system concentrates approximately 80 percent of delivered energy within the fat layer. This allows target tissues to reach therapeutic temperatures of between 50 and 55 degrees Celsius, levels required to affect adipose tissue and the connective structures associated with cellulite.

At the same time, epidermal cooling helps maintain comfort throughout treatment, with surface skin temperatures maintained at or below 38 degrees Celsius.

The controlled thermal delivery allows Onda PRO to address fat reduction, cellulite and skin tightening simultaneously, without excessive surface heating or prolonged recovery.

Precision-GigaWave technology across three handpieces

Precision-GigaWave technology underpins all Onda PRO handpieces: Pocket, Shallow and Deep. It offers precise, consistent and focused delivery of Coolwaves at different penetration depths to suit different anatomical areas. Alongside this, the integrated cooling system is designed to minimise side effects while enhancing patient comfort.

The Shallow handpiece is primarily used for skin tightening and selected areas of cellulite, while Deep targets adipose tissue and deeper connective structures associated with localised fat and cellulite. The new Pocket applicator extends this capability to the face and neck, enabling selective treatment of smaller areas where precision is required.

Onda PRO is also positioned as one of the fastest contouring treatments available, with sessions taking as little as 10 minutes. Combined with minimal downtime and suitability for all skin types, this positions the system as a compelling option for practitioners seeking reliable non-invasive contouring across both face and body applications.

Q&A with Matt Moncrieff

Managing Director, High Tech Medical

What makes Deka’s Coolwaves technology different from other energy modalities used for face and body contouring?

Unlike other energy-based technologies such as lasers and radiofrequency, microwave energy mostly passes through skin and is absorbed by adipose cells.

As a consequence of this, during an Onda treatment the skin is typically around 36 degrees and the fat layer is between 52 to 55 degrees. No other body and facial contouring device can keep the skin at such a low temperature while heating the target tissue to more than 50 degrees. This is why Onda is able to simultaneously treat localised areas of fat, tighten skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Facial contouring has become a major growth area, particularly for patients seeking tightening without injectables or surgery. How does the new Pocket handpiece change what clinicians can achieve in delicate facial and submental areas?

Deka evolved the Onda Coolwaves platform by designing a specific handpiece, the Pocket, that introduces a new solution: PGW (Precision-GigaWave Technology). This allows it to work in an even more precise and selective manner.

PGW technology allows practitioners to very accurately and reliably control the depth of treatment and therefore the type of tissue that is targeted by the microwave energy.

The Pocket handpiece, available on the new Onda PRO, is an exciting addition to the Coolwaves technology. It means we can now use Onda for the treatment of skin laxity on the face and neck.

How does Onda PRO’s versatility across face and body translate into practical benefits for clinics?

Deka is renowned for developing new technologies that allow practitioners to achieve better clinical outcomes with less risk and less discomfort. Onda PRO, an all-in-one skin tightening and contouring platform capable of addressing multiple indications simultaneously while maintaining patient comfort, most certainly fits into this category.

It can work both as a stand-alone device or as part of a larger treatment plan that combines multiple devices for a more global approach to achieving optimal outcomes. Additionally, there are no consumables, and treatments are quick and efficient.

The Onda PRO offers predictable results and high levels of patient satisfaction, supporting a strong return on investment for clinics.

Onda PRO is distributed by High Tech Medical. For more information,  call 1300 309 233 or visit www.hightechmedical.com.au.
