COSMEDICON 2021 saw Aesthetic Medical Practitioner magazine come to life in this fourth iteration of Australia’s premier boutique aesthetic medicine conference.

Held on 4 – 7 March, 2021 at the InterContinental Hotel in Sydney’s Double Bay, the capacity audience consisted of cosmetic doctors, plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists, aesthetic nurses, cosmetic dentists and clinic owners. COSMEDICON 2021 offered a diverse, multi-disciplinary forum to address the unique matters of interest and concern forced onto the industry in the past year, plus plenary presentations covering a broad range of non-surgical topics.

The event opened with a selection of pre-conference workshops catering to practitioners of all levels of experience. Being the first face-to-face meeting in a year, all sessions; EnVogue Skin’s Combination Therapy (injectables and threadlifting) Workshop, the Advanced Cosmetic Nurse Injector Workshop and the Facial Injectable Training (FIT) and Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Techniques for Beginners, were heavily subscribed.

The two-day scientific program featured prominent international speakers (via Zoom)
and local thought leaders delivering their insights and practice pearls on the most relevant and cutting-edge techniques and products in minimally invasive aesthetic practice, including anti-ageing, facial rejuvenation, body sculpting, skincare and laser.

Highlights of the two-day plenary included the keynote session which covered diverse topics including, aesthetic well-being, balance and lifestyle, beautiful unique faces, dealing with millennials, the psychology of permission and medical uses of botulinum toxin.

A lively discussion ensued on day two when the impact of COVID-19 on practice and clinic procedures. As well, safety and complications were discussed from both a legal and clinical perspective.

The plenary session were completed with a comprehensive session on business and practice support that covered the new HR roadmap and using podcasts in response to COVID-19 issues; resetting your practice; how to introduce skincare/skin treatments and strategies to dynamite your business to the next level.

Breakfast workshops prior to the scientific plenary sessions saw Solta Medical discussing advanced facial rejuvenation and resurfacing techniques with monopolar radiofrequency and fractionated laser technology and Cynosure introducing FlexSure, the world first hands-free wrappable RF applicator.

No Bella Media event would be complete without a social extravaganza. Delegates and trade enjoyed their first opportunity to network in a year at the Welcome Drinks. While the entertainment-packed “Studio 54” Gala Dinner hosted by High Tech Medical saw Griz Fechner introduce world-class DJ Stephen Ferris, roller girls, podium dancers and an amazing array of disco-inspired costumes.
