With less than four weeks until the must-attend, aesthetic medical conference, COSMEDICON 2021, we preview what will be happening at the pinnacle of boutique aesthetic conferences in Australia.

Along with most aspects of our lives, aesthetic medicine has been affected by COVID-19 both from a clinical perspective and how educational opportunities are undertaken. But with all Australian states now easing restrictions on movement around the country, COSMEDICON 2021 is shaping up to be the first opportunity in a year for aesthetic medical practitioners to gather, face-to-face network and learn.

As in past iterations, COSMEDICON 2021 will continue to place an emphasis on the quality of the scientific program, the experience of the speakers and the open sharing of knowledge between attendees. It is a multi-disciplinary conference that welcomes medical health practitioners from all streams and holds that practitioner education is the key to patient safety. It encourages excellence in all aspects of cosmetic medicine – not only in clinical practice but also through business strategies on how to effectively set up, manage and eventually on-sell an aesthetic medical practice.

Scientific Program

COSMEDICON 2021 has curated a two-day scientific program that boasts an impressive cross-section of industry experts providing thought-provoking, skill-enhancing lectures and panel discussions over a range of acutely relevant subjects – from the latest techniques and technologies to best clinical practice guidelines and marketing strategies.  It will feature relevant topics, such as ‘How not to disappear down the rabbit hole’, cutting edge techniques and products in minimally invasive cosmetic practice, including facial rejuvenation/injectables, body sculpting, skincare, laser and business/practice support.

The COSMEDICON mission is always that delegates will return home with plenty of new ideas and practical skills that can be implemented straight away.

You can view the draft program online.

Workshops

In addition to the scientific program, the COSMEDICON 2021 preconference program includes a full-day workshop hosted by EnVogue Skin. It will consist of a didactic course and live demonstration of combination therapies using injectables and threadlifting techniques and is free to all delegates registered for the scientific program.

Thursday also features an intensive multimodal didactic Facial Injectable Training (FIT) and Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Techniques for Beginners. This full-day course is designed to introduce the Scope of Practice and deliver some familiarity to allow a practitioner to start their aesthetic practice.

The pre-conference program on Thursday also includes the Advanced Cosmetic Nurse Injector Workshop. This is a full-day program catering to the experienced cosmetic nurse injector. The program includes a focus on safety, research, anatomy and novel uses for cosmetic injectables. It will also have case study presentations, an advanced live injecting session and an expert panel discussion offering opinions on the topics of the day.

Rounding out Thursday A5M presents NUTRIENT and IV THERAPIES: What you need to know. The use of IV Nutrient Therapies is a growing trend in integrative and aesthetic medicine practices. You will hear from a panel of experienced healthcare professionals about where to start, protocols to enhance aesthetic procedures, pre- and post-procedure, detoxification and cleansing, weight loss, patient consent, stability of infusions and much more.

Finally on Sunday, Bravura Education and COSMEDICON will host Laser and IPL Officer Training Certification. This course is suitable for anyone who operates a laser or IPL device or who is taking on the responsibility of being a laser safety officer no matter what health environment they work within. It is for beginners or as a refresher.

Social Functions

In true Bella Media fashion, COSMEDICON 2021 will host a lavish and fun social program – that starts with Welcome Drinks in the Stillery Bar on Thursday night from 7:00pm.

The ‘Studio 54’ Gala Dinner at the InterContinental, Double Bay is this year sponsored by High Tech Medical – hosted by Griz Fechner and featuring world renowned DJ Stephen Ferris (he has provided soundtracks for the City of Sydney 2000 New Years Eve celebration, VIVID, Mardi Gras amongst others).

There will be a prize for the best costume and be ready for some stunning shows and entertainment that highlight the best of the disco era!
