The clinically proven medical products providing effective solutions in wound healing, scar management and stretch mark prevention and treatment.

Stratpharma is leading the market by providing Australia with topical medical devices for post-procedure care. Their medical products include Stratamed, Strataderm, Stratamark and StrataXRT.

The silicone-based products have become recognised as the gold standard for the prevention and treatment of scars (1) and can be used following cosmetic surgery such as breast augmentation or facial plastic surgery, minor surgical procedures or for the prevention and treatment of stretch marks.

The impressive line of products has become a pivotal part of the post-procedure care protocol of many practitioners.

Helping to deliver better treatment outcomes Stratamed and Strataderm are providing aesthetic physicians with convenient solutions for post-procedure care. As Stratamed can be applied to open wounds and compromised skin, it can be applied immediately after intervention to provide symptomatic relief of redness, discolouration, itching, discomfort and pain2. Patients find the gel easy to apply and it has a wide range of applications as it is suitable for use on children or people with sensitive skin. Stratamed can also be used on infants, during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.

Once re-epithelialisation has occurred, patients can switch to Strataderm to help prevent abnormal scar formation. Many patients find Strataderm convenient and easy to use which results in better compliance and results. Many doctors also prefer the gel to silicone sheets as it is convenient to use on areas with contours and joints. It is also economical for patients to use during the whole treatment period.

Stratamed – an advanced film forming wound dressing

In terms of patient satisfaction, wound healing and scar management are critical components following aesthetic procedures. This includes major cosmetic surgery, facial plastic surgery, post skin rejuvenation and resurfacing treatment, and relatively minor procedures such as skin cancer removal.

Stratamed is a breakthrough treatment for faster wound healing and abnormal scar prevention. It is a semi-occlusive, self-drying, transparent wound dressing in the form of a gel which allows prevention of abnormal scarring to begin earlier than ever before. The gel dries to form a full contact, flexible dressing over the wound.

Stratamed is bacteriostatic, gas permeable and inert. It can be applied immediately after surgery or skin resurfacing to promote faster re-epithelialisation and a reduced inflammatory response. This leads to reduced downtime for the patient and improves the outcome of the treatment.

Strataderm – scar therapy gel

Strataderm prevents and treats scars, both old and new. This topical gel formula dries to form a durable, flexible and waterproof sheet over the scar. This sheet is semi-occlusive and helps to achieve a softer, smoother and flatter scar (3). Strataderm is used to prevent hypertrophic scars and keloids and prevents abnormal and excessive scar formation. The gel reduces redness and discolouration and reduces itching and discomfort (3). Strataderm is easy to apply once daily and when dry can be covered with makeup or sunscreen.

Stratamark – for prevention of stretch marks after breast augmentation

Stratamark can be used to prevent stretch marks resulting from breast augmentation. Not all breast augmentation patients will develop stretch marks, but for those that do it can mar the result and be a source of ongoing dissatisfaction. Stratamark helps to hydrate the skin and normalise the collagen synthesis cycle. Stratamark can be used to prevent stretch marks in high risk groups such as those who have stretch marks on other parts of their body, patients younger than 25 years of age or who take oral contraceptives.

StrataXRT – an innovative, flexible wound dressing for the prevention and treatment of radiation dermatitis

The newest product in the Stratpharma range, StrataXRT helps to preserve the skin’s integrity by reducing the side effects of ionising radiation. The protective film of StrataXRT protects the skin from excessive sloughing of the stratum corneum and provides a semi-occlusive coverage for optimal hydration of the injured area. Once injury to the skin has occurred, StrataXRT provides a moist wound-healing environment leading to faster re-epithelialisation. Patients experience reduced pain, redness and heat when StrataXRT is applied to areas of radiation dermatitis. In the area of aesthetics, StrataXRT is gaining traction as a flexible wound dressing suitable for use post-skin rejuvenation. The enhanced formula of StrataXRT is suitable for use on sensitive skin such as periorbital, nostrils and lips. StrataXRT can be used immediately after laser resurfacing to promote faster wound healing, less downtime for the patient and improve the visible outcome of the procedure.

Stratamark – clinically proven for the prevention and treatment of stretch marks

Stratamark is the first clinically proven medical product for the prevention and treatment of stretch marks. Stratamark is a unique gel formulation that prevents stretch marks from occurring and softens and flattens existing stretch marks. When applied, Stratamark reduces redness and discolouration and relieves itching and discomfort associated with stretch marks.

Unlike cosmetic and moisturising products, Stratamark is a topical medical device with a proven therapeutic action for the treatment and prevention of stretch marks. Stratamark allows the skin to normalise the collagen synthesis cycle, and hydrates and protects
the skin.

Stratamark is easy to apply once daily in a very thin layer to the relevant areas. Once dry it can be covered by undergarments, sunscreens or cosmetics. Stratamark does not penetrate below the level of the stratum corneum (the top layer of the skin) and is suitable for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, children and people with sensitive skin.

Results have shown 47% improvement of the severity of existing Striae. Patients and doctors reported 88% improvement in colour, 86% reduction in visibility and 83% reduction in pruritus.

82% of patients who used Stratamark for prevention of stretch marks completed the clinical study without developing stretch marks, compared to 39% of patients not using Stratamark. Only mild to moderate stretch marks were observed among the 18.2% who did develop stretch marks with no severe or very severe cases observed4.
