Mesoestetic, distributed in Australia by Advanced Cosmeceuticals, is at the forefront of achieving efficacious and lasting results using topical cosmeceuticals.

Mesoestetic, distributed in Australia by Advanced Cosmeceuticals, is a leading company in the medical-aesthetic arena. By working
with biotechnology and active ingredients, Mesoestetic is at
the helm of using topical anti-ageing and condition corrective formulas. Here, we look into three of Mesoestetic’s top cosmeceutical solutions – Dermamelan, mesopeel and meso.prof.

Dermamelan

Hyperpigmentation affects more than 80% of women over the age of 25 and Dermamelan signifies an accessible, effective and minimally invasive solution. It is a professional treatment, combining salon treatments and homecare products, to inhibit the production of melanin in the skin and reduce the visible signs of pigmentation.

The Dermamelan treatment is formulated using naturally derived tyrosinase inhibitors such as kojic acid (KA), which has been found to generate results within four weeks of use. This is partnered with exfoliating agents, sunscreen filters and a high antioxidant vitamin complex to stimulate collagen production, accelerate skin cell renewal and protect the skin against further environmental damage.

One study, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, enrolled 22 French patients clinically diagnosed with symmetric melasma of the face with Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI in a split-faced trial lasting
four months. The study compared the effects of two non-hydroquinone bleaching creams – Dermamelan (Kojic acid, phytic acid, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane) and Mela D (Kojic acid/mexoryl XL and LHA).

Patients applied Dermamelan to one side of the face, and Mela D to the other side of the face, for the 16-week study period. Skincare was regulated through the study and
there were no special instructions to avoid the sun.

Patients underwent a baseline evaluation at initial presentation, using both standard and UV photographs for clinical examination. Results were measured using subsequent photos at weeks four and 16. Both patients and physicians assessed improvement, based on the photographs, using a five-point scale (resolved, significant improvement, slight improvement, no change or worsening). A mexameter was also used for the objective measurement of pigmentation.

“The UV digital photographs
were used to evaluate the area of pigmentation and to control the normal lighting photographs. We observed a quicker and higher efficacy of Dermamelan compared with Mela D on facial melasma on all skin types,” the researchers state. “The Mexameter results showed
a greater bleaching effect with Dermamelan than Mela D. On the satisfaction and tolerance test with each cream, it was noticeable that even though Dermamelan led to increased skin irritation, 100 per cent of patients chose the efficacy before skin acceptance.”
