MESOESTETIC, A global leader in the medical aesthetic industry, is revolutionising the treatment of pigmentation with gold standard skin care solutions.

Mesoestetic, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical laboratories in the field of dermatology and cosmetic medicine, has developed gold standards in skin care
solutions, including clinically proven treatments of pigmentation and melasma.

Melasma is a common and aesthetically displeasing pigmentary disorder, resulting from hypermelanosis. It predominately affects photo exposed areas such as the forearms, neck and face. Often refractory to treatment, it can elicit severe psychcoemotional duress upon affected individuals.

Cosmelan and Dermamelan are two new generation depigmentation treatments that are currently trailblazing the skincare industry. Distributed in Australia by Advanced Cosmeceuticals, Mesoestetic’s treatments have been clinically proven to achieve results within 4 weeks, with minimal side affects.

About the treatments

Mesoestetic offers different depigmentation treatments depending on the severity of the skin disorder and the patient’s lifestyle commitments.

Cosmelan and Dermamelan are two professional skin-brightening treatments developed by Mesoestetic. They are topical solutions that help visibly reduce dark spots, restore radiance and luminosity to the skin, and even out skin tone. Versatile and easy to apply, the treatments can be adapted to all skin colours,
all year round.

Cosmelan and Dermamelan treatments are tailored to each individual and the results are long lasting. The treatment itself involves a two-stage process: the procedure conducted in-clinic and the at-home care routine.

These powerhouse treatments offer very promising results on all types of pigmentation, including melasma, which has traditionally been very resilient to treatment.

Cosmelan and Dermamelan act on the cells that are responsible for skin pigmentation, cleverly slowing down melanin production in hyperpigmented areas.

The treatment is highly effective for treating all types of skin spots: melasma and chloasma, age spots, sun damage spots, and pigmentation due to the use of oral contraceptives, among others.

After the first or second week of treatment, the appearance of pigmented blemishes or spots is lighter and less noticeable and the skin is visibly clearer.

Both Cosmelan and Dermamelan treatments have an impressive clearance rate, reducing pigmentation spots by up to 95 percent in nearly all cases. This new generation of skin-brightening treatments is offering pigmentation sufferers renewed hope, with one-time treatments to effectively eliminate brown spots and even
out skin tone.

The clinical research

A controlled study assessed the efficacy and safety of Dermamelan in treating facial melasma in all Fitzpatrick skin types.

Twenty-two women applied Dermamelan on half their face once daily for 16 weeks and a competitor range on the other half. Standard and UV photographs for the clinical examination were recorded at baseline and at weeks 4 and 16. Both patients and physicians assessed improvement from baseline.

A quicker and higher efficacy with Dermamelan, and a greater bleaching effect was noted. It was also noticeable that even though Dermamelan led to increased skin irritation, 100% of the patients chose efficacy over skin discomfort.

The study concluded that Dermamelan cream demonstrated a quick and high degree of efficacy, even if it is less tolerated. Dermamelan therefore appears to be a very effective treatment for melasma.

With Cosmelan, improvement is anticipated within 1-4 weeks, which is much faster than bleaching agents, which generally require 6-12 weeks to initiate depigmentation.

In the Cosmelan trial, 6 female patients were instructed to use only the depigmenting compound (Cosmelan) and moisturisers advocated by Mesoestetic in conjunction with bland cleansers. They were not expected to refrain from normal sun exposure of outdoor activities.

Melasma severity was scored with the Melasma Area and Severity Index (MASI), Visia Skin Analysis and objective and subjective photographs at baseline and 4 weeks.

A significant change was noted in both the objective rankings by independent evaluators and subjective evaluation, in that everybody ranked the photographs better following treatment intervention.

All six subjects experienced significant depigmentation of melasma, not only at study cessation but evidenced at seven days following twice-daily application of Cosmelan cream. All six subjects also expressed improvement in the overall aesthetic appearance of the skin at fourteen days.

Both Demamelan and Cosmelan treatments are suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types and can be used all year around due to the incorporation of chemical UV filters.

Although you need to prepare your patients for some downtime, for lifelong pigmentation sufferers the promise of smooth and clear skin far outweighs the amount of downtime.

With the impressive Mesoestetic treatment range, you can offer your patients a new generation in gold standard skin-brightening treatments, while effectively adding another arm to your practice.
