The next generation in LED phototherapy, Healite II, is breaking the mould in post-procedure wound healing and recovery.

Healite II, manufactured by Lutronic and distributed in Australia by Advanced Cosmeceuticals, is the new- generation Light Emitting Diode (LED) phototherapy system, delivering low levels of light to activate reparative cells and promote post-procedure wound healing.

Following cosmetic surgery, wound therapy is arguably just as important as the procedure itself. Optimising patient downtime is key in securing the best surgical outcome possible – and also in allaying patient concerns and insecurities before undertaking the procedure in the first place.

Healite II can be used as an effective standalone therapy, or as a powerful adjunct to pre andHealiteII post surgical and non-surgical treatments. The device can be used directly post procedure, on the wound site, to stimulate cellular repair and target the reparative cells.

An expert in LED technology, and forefather of LED in aesthetics and wound healing, Dr Glen Calderhead is behind the innovation.

LED phototherapy has been known in the market for many decades by virtue of its various therapeutic benefits. However, Dr Calderhead has developed Healite II to stand out from the crowd by ensuring maximum energy delivery to the tissue and an unprecedented ease of use that both practitioners and patients appreciate.

Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) with Healite II is the therapeutic use of incident light to photomodulate cellular function, improving healing times, relieving pain, subsiding active acne, promoting skin rejuvenation, and more. In Healite II, Dr Calderhead has harnessed the properties of 830/590nm light via LED technology, properly delivered and concentrated, treating effectively without possibility of physical trauma or thermal damage. The combination of LLLT wavelengths – yellow 590nm and near infrared 830nm – treats a wide range of aesthetic and medical conditions without heat, ensuring no risk of burning or other damage to tissue.

The Healite II point of difference

Healite II stands out from other LEDs with its Photo-Sequencing Technology (PST). This means micro-low level light therapy (590nm) is used for 60 seconds ahead of continuous delivery of near infrared 830nm. This prepares the superficial epidermis to enhance the effects of the 830nm on deeper dermal tissue.

“Yellow light is delivered at a low intensity and low dose to activate cells in the epidermis,” explains Dr Calderhead. “We aim for keratinocytes and merkel cells, as both of these are highly endowed with mitochondria. Following this, the infrared at 830nm is introduced. This penetrates the deeper dermis and beyond.”

Healite II bio-stimulates the skin at subcellular, cellular and tissue levels to help existing cells work better, repair damaged ones and stimulate collagen production. As well as skin rejuvenation to address lines and wrinkles and other signs of photoageing, it is well recognised for its ability to improve wound and soft tissue healing and reduce inflammation as well as treat acne, chronic pain such as arthritis, muscle spasm, superficial skin lesions and more.

Optical lens array technology

The Optical Lens Array technology of Healite II uses collimation optics, which more effectively harnesses the energy of 1800 new-generation LEDs. This achieves concentrated and therapeutic photon intensities in the cells of the target tissue.

“Optical Lens Array technology allows us to achieve the optimum level for tissue regeneration, which is 60J per cm, more quickly,” Dr Calderhead says. “Studies have shown greater light concentration, over a shorter time period, induces a significantly higher increase in cell activity compared with other systems. Eleven minutes with Healite II, compared with 20 minutes with another system, is good for the patient and for the doctor.”

Treatments using Healite II

• Wound healing
• Pain relief
• Infrared light source can be used to provide temporary relief of muscle and joint pain and to improve local blood circulation
• Arthritis
• Muscle spasm
• Skin rejuvenation
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Active acne
• Superficial skin lesions

Long-term anti-ageing results

Treatment with Healite II has been shown to boost the body’s natural reservoirs of anti-ageing constituents.

“When the infrared light hits mast cells in the dermis, they release a product called Superoxide dismutase (SOD),” Dr Calderhead says. “This is an antioxidant that remains in the tissue for up to six months. The minute you’re exposed to some UV oxidative stress, the damaging effect is quenched because the SODs are waiting.”

“Photoproducts such as growth factors are also produced during treatment. These get picked up in the blood and carried throughout the body. Healite II has been shown to accelerate healing, stimulate collagen production and increase cellular activity,” Dr Calderhead concludes.
